Alexis Korner – Rhythm and Blues Champion

There is currently an opportunity to hear a radio documentary narrated by Chris Jagger (Mick’s brother) and first broadcast on Radio 2, in 2008. Alexis Korner, Rhythm and Blues Champion is a four part series, that discusses the life and times of Alexis Korner and his contribution to British music. The Ealing Club is cited on the BBC6 programme website, as the CRUCIBLE of British rock.

Chris Jagger ends programme one, with the words:

” Alexis would bring together many of those disparate young blues fans under one roof and the venue would be the Ealing Club. It would become the breeding ground for many of the biggest stars of the sixties”

The Full Programme is available here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/8tt3x/

The Ealing Club is episode two!!!!! Please listen and get others to listen….

There are interviews of Alexis Korner and his wife Bobbie Korner, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Paul Jones, Eric Burdon and of course, Chris Barber.

The Ealing Club

Wouldn’t it be great to see a BBC TV documentary of all this? At least, the BBC are supporting a key founder of British Blues Rock Heritage (Alexis Korner). Perhaps, if the fans show an interest, that will help producers show an interest, so please pass this on to anybody that likes MUSIC.

The Ealing Club venue, is today a bar, called the Red Room. Friendly, atmospheric, certainly on Ealing Club nights. Please reserve your tickets for Ealing Club Blue Plaque gigs by e-mail: ealing-club@hotmail.co.uk
